Families Testify in Fort Hood Sentencing

Army Major Nidal Hasan could learn his sentence today.

Army Major Nidal Hasan could learn his sentence today.

Hasan was found guilty of killing 13 people at Fort Hood in the largest mass shooting ever on a U.S. Military base.

Survivors and family members of those killed testified Monday. The mother of Texoma solider J.D. Hunt took the stand, saying she immediately started calling her son when she heard about the shooting. A few hours later she was devastated to learn he was killed in the attack. Hunt grew up in Frederick, OK, and graduated from Tipton High School in 2005.

The jury could decide as early as today whether Hasan receives capital punishment for the 2009 shootings.
