Grandfield Family Loses Home in Fire

Authorities say they're still looking into what caused a Sunday afternoon fire that destroyed a Grandfield family's home.
A Grandfield family is without a home tonight after a fire destroyed their house this afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire around 2 o'clock on 5th and Taylor in Grandfield.

The fire spread from the first house to another on the same block.

Due to wind and dryness, the fire jumped across fourth street engulfing another house.

One other house caught fire, too, but firefighters were able to stop the blaze before any structure damage was sustained.

According to Grandfield Assistant Fire Chief Corey Howard, the first two homes were abandoned.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, though it's known that it started in the car port of the first house.

Red Cross has been called to help the displaced family.

Firefighters say they will stay on scene all night to ensure the fire does not start again.
