A Lawton man is arrested after police say he shot a convenience store clerk in the face during a robbery.

25-year-old Jerrell Thomas is in the Lawton city jail while formal charges are being presented to the district attorney.

Police say at about 1:45 Sunday morning, Thomas and an unidentified male entered the Stripes store on Sheridan and Lincoln and approached the clerk.

That's when police say Thomas shot her in the face, went behind the counter, and took items from the store. Police say the second suspect was standing at the door at the time.

After the robbery, both men fled the scene and a witness called 9-1-1. The clerk was taken to Comanche County Hospital where officials say she was not fatally injured but it will take time for her to recover.

Police were able to locate Thomas at a home in the 2300 block of Williams where they say he admitted to the robbery and shooting. Officers are still searching for the second suspect. He is described as a dark skinned male who was wearing a red bandanna over his face.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, you can call Lawton Crimestoppers at 580-355-4636.
