Locks of Love

A young lady in Wichita Falls is taking time to give someone a gift two years in the making.
Summer Strickland is a Special Olympian donated more than ten inches of her hair this afternoon to *locks a love* which in turn donates wigs and hair pieces to cancer survivors.
Summer's mother says summer came up with the idea two years ago when her neighbor was diagnosed with cancer.
She says summer wanted to know why her neighbor didn't have long hair anymore and when she found out she could help someone in the same situation she jumped at the opportunity.

Of course I'm very proud of her. For her to think of somebody else that doesn't have what she has and that she can grow it for somebody that can not grow their own hair out, said Sundee Strickland, mother of Summer.
Summer has been an active participant in the Special Olympics for the past eleven years -- excelling in track and field, bowling and basketball.
Strickland says this act of kindness is just another reason she is so proud of her daughter.
