The student council at Crockett Elementary is starting to broadcast announcements with the new crockett morning news show.
Eddie Randle shows us how the kids like going *live* in tonight's Making the Grade.
Good morning and welcome to Crockett Morning News.
Members of the Crockett school student council are turning their student government meetings into a morning news program.
Its something they have been preparing for the last two months and tomorrow morning they'll officially be broadcasters.
Student council officers say its great to see it all come together.
"Im really happy about it because not many got chosen to this so its like really cool," said Student Council Vice President Sonya Ganesham.
Student Council President Je'Keia Jackson says,"Its just fun being able to do something that really happens and do it at school".
The student council sponsor Adrian Cargal obtained funds to turn the student council ipad into a movie camera.
She's even took a class to learn about broadcasting so these kids could get the full experience.
"Its allot hard work you have to kind of memorize the scripts sometimes and you can't look off somewhere else", said Ganesham.
But it's the chance to be a role model that has 6th grader and student council president Je'keia Jackson on board.
"Just kind of being able to set examples for lower grades considering my little sister is in fourth. Its just very exciting to realize people count on you and look up to you," said Jackson.
After months of preparation their scripts on the table and their coffee mugs in hand I'd say they're ready for the show.
(Nats make it a great day or not the choice is yours)
The student council also runs a recycling campaign to raise money for a garden that will be maintained by the Crockett students.
