For the second week in a row MSU's Xavier Blackburn won the Lone Star Conference defensive player of the week award.Blackburn played a key role in an historic defensive night as Midwestern State rolled to a 66-41 win over Eastern New Mexico Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The 6-4 junior from New Iberia, La. scored eight points, but snagged a game-high 11 board -- nine defensive -- with two blocks and a steal as the Mustangs limited the Greyhounds to a 19.3 percent shooting night which ranks as the second lowest opponent field goal percentage in school history. Blackburn delivered a 15-point, 7-rebound effort helping the Mustangs overcome a 13-point first-half deficit to beat West Texas A&M Wednesday in Canyon. For the week, Blackburn, averaged 12.0 points and 9.0 rebounds -- with 16 defensive boards -- to go along with two blocked shots and a steal.
