A man accused of the fatal shooting of a Wichita Falls grocery store owner nearly two years ago appeared in 89th District Court this afternoon for a pre-trial hearing.
Clifton John Russell IV and another man are charged with the murder of a Wichita Falls grocery store owner in January 2012.
Wichita Falls police say Russell, who was 17 at the time, admitted to shooting 66 year old Muhammad "Mo" Amad at Mo's Grocery while they say Michael Shay Graves admitted to standing at the door as a lookout during the robbery.
Instead of facing the death penalty or life in prison without parole Russell will face life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years. It's a mandatory sentence state lawmakers approved this past July for 17 year olds who commit capital crimes.
Russell's trial date is set for the week of November 4th. No trial date has been set for Graves.
