Early this month Chicagoans felt the earth move but the seismic activity is believed not to be an earthquake.

A magnitude 3.2 seismic event struck Illinois on November 4, 2013 at 18:35:34 UTC.

USGS seismologists believe the event is a quarry or other near-surface blast. This designation was made from examination of the data recorded on seismometers near the event.

The epicenter of this event occurred in a southwest suburb of Chicago, about 15 miles from the downtown city center
