Wichita Falls Police said a routine traffic stop leads to an arrest and a dog being shot.

Authorities said two drug task force officers were making the stop just before seven Thursday night on the 1200 block of Ridgeway Drive.

They said during the traffic stop one of the two officers saw another man who was just a bystander pick up a baggie from the ground.
Officers say they thought cocaine might have been in the baggie.
The officer went to try and detain him but he ran.

When the officer followed the man's dog bit him on the hand and that's when the officer shot the dog.
The man is now in police custody.
