Suspect in Lawton's 13th Homicide Formally Charged with Murder

The man arrested in connection with the City of Lawton's 13th homicide of the year was formally charged with his wife's murder during his arraignment on Wednesday.
The man arrested in connection with the City of Lawton's 13th homicide of the year was formally charged with his wife's murder during his arraignment on Wednesday.

David Lee Baird, 63, is charged with murder in the first degree, unlawful removal of a dead body and unlawful desecration of a dead body.

The body of Baird's wife, 36-year-old Claudine Marroquin, was found at a home in the 1700 Block of Northwest Irwin Avenue buried in the backyard underneath a collapsed above-ground pool, and some tires.

Marroquin's family had filed a missing person's report with lawton police after she had not been seen or heard from in a couple weeks and that lead investigators to her body.

Baird is also charged with forging a certificate of title and obtaining food stamps by fraud.

His bond is set at $1,000,000 and is being he held at the Comanche County Jail.
