We're just going to continue to get better and better. But we have to clean up a lot of stuff and we know that. We were able to win the game and make a lot of mistakes. So if we fix those mistakes we just get better and better. I'm proud of your effort, the way you sucked it up and got in there. Good job. Good job."

But to get a win first it's really nice and hopefully we can continue that."

Quarterback Tyler Mays was one of the stars of the game for Newcastle on both sides of the ball, "Last year we come out 0-and-3 and it kind of gets your spirits down. You really question if you want to be there. Coming out with a victory in the first game makes you feel like you want to be here now."

Mays throwing for two touchdowns and running for two more, and along with making it into the end zone, Shields made a game sealing interception. Shields saying after this game he can see the team's potential, "It absolutely shows that we have a lot of potential. We're not as good as we want to be. We're not going to let our heads get big and crash in the next few games. But it sure means a lot and gives us a real starting point to go off of for the rest of the year."
