TXDOT Working Hard to Keep Roads Clear

TXDOT is still working hard to prep the roads to keep us safe.

TXDOT started prepping for Friday's ice Thursday, transforming their trucks to have snow plows in case they needed to be used. At 3 a.m. crews were out spraying freezeguard on the roads and bridges to help give drivers more traction control. But the rain melted what they were able to lay down.

Crews are working 24 hrs, alternating in 12 hour shifts to monitor road conditions and clean up what they can. And as TXDOT deals with the current storm they are also looking ahead to deal with the weather this weekend.

Adele Lewis with TXDOT said, "If we get a clearing and a dry patch we will pretreat all the bridges and overpasses in anticipation of Sunday night's storm. All of our maintenance supervisors will be working Sunday and Sunday night.

TXDOT officials say that as they are doing all they can to prevent wrecks. It's important drivers do their part to keep the roads safe by slowing down and staying off their cell phones.
