UPDATE: Tropical Storm Ingrid Heading to Mexico

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded T.D. 10 to Tropical Storm Ingrid.
UPDATE:  The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Tropical Depression 10 to Tropical Storm Ingrid!

At this time the model consensus from the NHC has Ingrid moving to the north and then turning to the north-northwest into northeast portions of Old Mexico.  This will keep a majority of the moisture in deep south Texas and far from Texoma.  It will also create extremely hazardous and lifethreatening flash flooding across portions of northeast Mexico.

There is still a chance that the models will be wrong and the storm will stear towards Texas but model errors such as that are very infrequent.  Therefore we are going with the consensus forecast.

Original Story:  The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring the development of Tropical Depression 10 that formed just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula late last night and early this morning.

The NHC is forecasting T.D. 10 to quickly get upgraded to Tropical Storm Ingrid today.  Current NHC model consensus takes the soon to be named Ingrid onshore into northeast Mexico in the state of Tamaulipas.  The landfall is forecast for about 3am Monday.

This will bring large amounts of rain and minimal wind and storm surge to the coast of Mexico.  It will also bring limited moisture and rainfall into extreme south Texas.

At this time it does not appear possible that the models will change and steer the storm towards the state of Texas in fact the models have been very consistent in taking the storm into northeast Mexico.
