Forty-seven thousand US troops will be ringing in the new year fighting for our country in Afghanistan.

But one made it back home in time to make a new year's resolution with his family.

First Sergeant Eric Stuhan was welcomed back to Texoma at the Wichita Falls Municipal Airport this afternoon.

He was welcomed by friends, his wife, Jennifer, and six kids.

Stuhan was in Afghanistan for the past year on his 4th tour of duty, and he says he has special plans for the new year.

Just go out to dinner, enjoy American food in the US, relax as a family, watch some movies, and obviously the ball drop, and celebrate,” he said.

Patriot Guard riders also helped to make Stephan’s home coming a special one by lining the airport hallway with American flags.
