Dozens of kids across Texoma recieved new toys to brighten their holiday season Friday.

The Wichita Falls Police Department teamed up with United Regional Hospital to surprise kids with a visit from Santa and one of his elves.

Each child received a stuffed animal or a goody bag filled with toys and candy.

They also got some time to visit with Santa and tell him what they are hoping to find under their tree on Christmas morning.

Organizers say the WFPD wanted to find a way to cheer up the kids while letting them know that police officers are there to help.

"If we can show them, you know that we are their friend, that we are there to help them, especially during their time of need, I think it shows a positive position that the police department has for all of it's citizens," says WFPD Public Information Officer Sgt. John Spragins.

After visiting the hospital officers went to the local children's home.
