WF's Working to Fix Scheduling Issues at Travel Center

It's been two weeks since the Wichita Falls Travel Center opened and city officials say they are still working out some of the issues.

Tuesday the Director of Aviation, Traffic and Transportation John Burrus addressed many concerns about bus scheduling.

He says there have been many situations where folks have gone to the travel center to try and catch a bus but didn't realize the facility was close.

Burrus says you can still catch a bus even when the building is closed.

“In those cases if you know the scheduled departure time, you meet the bus as you normally would, you talk to the bus driver, tell them hey the building closed, I was unable to get a ticket and basically what they will do is let you on the bus, you'll be able to ride to the next 24 hr facility, that may be Oklahoma City or Amarillo and they will ticket you at that time from Wichita Falls to where ever your destination is,” says Burrus.

The city is now working on fixing those problems by providing signs and pamphlets that will explain the bus schedules.

The original hours of the facility were set by Greyhound but the city is open to looking at expanded hours and opening on Sundays.

And if you haven't had a chance to see the new travel center this weekend is your chance.

City staff says everyone is invited to the travel center for some holiday cheer during the 2013 City Lights Celebration.

They will be handing out hot wassail and kids can decorate an ornament to hang on the Travel Center's tree.

A mailbox will also be set up so kids can send a letter to Santa at the North Pole.

It all starts at 4 p.m. this Saturday November the 23rd.

The travel center is at 306 Scott Street.
