Members of the Wichita Falls Police Department and the Wichita County Sheriff's Office took part in the 30th anniversary of National Night Out on Tuesday evening.
Wichita Falls residents had an opportunity to meet local law enforcement officials during the annual event.
The police department and sheriff's office had booths set up for people to learn more about their programs like Crimestoppers and the Neighborhood Watch program.
Wichita Falls Police Chief Manuel Borrego says National Night Out also gives people a chance to really get to know those enforcing the laws.
"We just don't arrest people and write tickets," Borrego says. "We're here to support the community, give them tips, on how to protect themselves and certainly for them to call us whenever they got some suspicion or for whatever reason and we'll come out and respond and take care of their needs."
Chief Borrego says you can show your support of National Night Out by leaving your porch light Tuesday night.
