For years, the Power of the Purse has has been a lunchtime fundraiser, but this year, that event is moving to the evening time to bring night of elegance and excitement to Wichita Falls.
You don't have to go to the big apple to see models strut the latest fashions on the runway because in two weeks New York models will be here, at the former Dunlaps department store in Wichita Falls for Fashion's Night Out in the Square.
"It was a two year concept but the wheels started rolling in April and it's like a locomotive that gets started and now they're burning," says Robin Cook, the owner of Tangles Salon.
Burning, because Cook says the event will take fashion in Texoma to another level and it will all start with her long-time friend, Brendan Cannon of The Cannon Media Group.
"Cannon will be bringing fashion in from New York. He'll be bringing in some designer gowns," says Cook.
And all of the high-class fashion will help raise money for Faith Refuge for Women Scholarship Fund.
Janet Riley hopes to benefit from the scholarship.
She graduated from the Genesis Substance Abuse Program two years ago and now works at the women's shelter but she hopes to use the scholarship fund to improve her future.
"I want to become a Licensed Christian Substance Abuse Counselor and I know without a scholarship or a grant that's just not gonna be possible," says Riley.
Savannah Burke, who is currently a program member, is also excited about Fashion's Night Out helping her future.
"I've been to school before for dental assisting and it's be really nice to go back to school," says Burke.
And thanks to the upcoming Fashion's Night Out, furthering their education will soon be possible for women here.
Fashion's Night Out in the Square and Power of the Purse is September 6th, in the former Dunlaps department store in Parker Square.
