Raised in the beautiful Centennial State of Colorado, Mel grew up with two amazing parents and an older brother and sister, making her the baby of the family! She went to college at Metropolitan State University of Denver (Go Roadrunners!) and studied Broadcast Journalism through a terrific news program called Met Media. There, Mel worked as the executive producer and reporter for a segment called ‘EMET’, and was one of the main news anchors for ‘The Met Report’.
She later went on to work at the local FOX station, KDVR/KWGN Channel 31, as a production assistant and assignment editor for ‘Good Day Colorado’. Now, she’s here delivering the latest news to you fine people!
When she isn’t working or going to school, she’s either getting out in the sunshine and hitting the hiking trails in beautiful Rockies, doing Zumba fitness and Yoga, cooking, a little photography, writing or drawing crazy comic book characters! She also loves going to the movies with friends and spending quality time family!
Mel has traveled all over North America but has only been outside of the U.S. twice. She hopes one day to travel and write about far off, exotic places: Thailand, you’re at the top of her list!
It’s always been a dream of hers to be in front of the camera and deliver the news to a strong community, and it’s finally come true! She’s spent her time at KFDX on the morning crew and has made many Texomans smile, and now Mel looks forward to making Wichita Falls her new home and spending the evenings with you!
