Michael was born and raised in Mesquite, TX during a particularly active period of severe weather in North Texas. Fascinated by thunderstorms and tornadoes, he began reading books about severe weather at the age of five.
Michael can likely trace his interest in broadcast meteorology back to always watching the weather during severe thunderstorms, and then taking cover when the tornado sirens went off. He desired to learn what the meteorologists on TV knew, so he could help protect others like they protected his family.
After graduating from Poteet High School, Michael attended the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in meteorology with a minor in broadcast meteorology. He graduated in May of 2018, and quickly found a new home working for the Texoma community.
Michael’s second love in life will always be sports. His favorite was hockey, which he played for 14 years and ended with a Texas State Championship and a National Bronze Medal his senior year of high school. He continues his love of sports by watching the Stars, Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and (of course) the Oklahoma Sooners every chance he gets.
If you see Michael around town, feel free to introduce yourself. He’d love to talk your ear off about the weather, or sports, anytime.
