Accident on Hwy 287, Semi Hits Parked Car

UPDATE: Traffic is moving again on the southbound lanes of U.S. 287 between Electra and Iowa Park after it was backed up for several hours Thursday morning when a semi hit a parked car.

Officials say a Toyota Corolla was parked in the median of 287, near the Burnett Ranch Road exit.

They say the Corolla pulled out in front of the truck and the truck driver hit it.

The trailer tipped and split open, partially spilling its load, which was tons of of cat food.

The woman driving the car was tested for drugs, and police believe she was impaired and could face charges.

She was taken to the hospital, no word on her injuries yet.

The accident held traffic on 287 up for hours.

Both southbound lanes of 287 were closed, but now one lane has been opened and traffic is moving.

Officials say a 1995 Toyota Corolla was parked in the median of Highway 287, in between Electra and Iowa Park, near the Burnett Ranch Road exit.

They say the semi hit the Corolla and lost it’s load of cat food.

The woman driving the Corolla was tested for drugs, and police believe she was impaired.

She was taken to the hospital, but no word on injuries yet.

Both southbound lanes of Highway 287 were closed, but now one lane has opened.
