A 27-year-old woman accused of committing the city’s second homicide last year has another court appearance in 89th District Court.
Ashlie Couch has not signed a plea agreement so attorneys continue to prepare to go to trial. Couch was arrested last March after a fight broke out and shots were fired at the Haystack Club on North Scott. Police were called to the club where two people had been shot.
48-year-old Douglas Hearne died of his wounds and another victim was treated and released. When officers questioned Couch, she told them her cousin had been shot after they were escorted out during a disturbance.
Couch said she picked the gun up off the ground, went back inside and fired three shots at the floor.
