Boy, 13, Leads Officers on Chase Through Dallas: Police

NBC 5 – A 13-year-old with a plastic gun led police on a chase through Garland and Dallas in a stolen car early Friday morning, according to authorities.

Three juveniles were involved in a carjacking at a Walgreens in the 2000 block of South Buckner Boulevard in Dallas at 2:44 a.m., police said. Dallas police officers pursued the suspects in a stolen 2000 Toyota Avalon, but pulled back when the teens reached high speeds.

Garland police said officers began chasing the vehicle after a Dallas Police Department helicopter pilot spotted it. The chase, which lasted about 26 minutes, ended on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge after Garland police forced the vehicle to crash.

Dallas police said they arrested the 13-year-old driver and two passengers, ages 15 and 17 years old. Officers also found a plastic gun in the vehicle.

The three juveniles facing charges of aggravated robbery and evading authorities, police said.

All northbound lanes of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge were closed for several hours until police reopened them at about 6:30 a.m.
