Boy Shows Appreciation for Texoma Police Officers

One Texoma boy wanted to show his appreciation to the men and women in blue this week.

8-year-old T.J. Salmon walked up to a Wichita Falls police unit recently with a gift card and then he wanted to also show his appreciation for the Burkburnett police officers.

T.J. said he wanted to thank them for keeping him and the community safe by baking the Burkburnett officers cupcakes — that had to be blue.

Recently, T.J.’s mother said they were having lunch at a Taco Casa in Wichita Falls when T.J. said he wanted to do something nice for an officer he saw nearby, so he and his mother brought the officer a gift card.

But the Salmon family actually lives in Burkburnett, so T.J. did not want to stop there.

He decided that he needed to bake the department blue cupcakes and give the K9 officers doggy treats.

“Cause it’s because that if you give them something that’s nice — like cupcakes. Like I did. That’s also called a thank you,” T.J. said.

“There’s not a whole lot of kids that actually come up here that do this kind of thing on their own. So it’s very special. It means a lot to us,” Lt. Lahoma Vaughn said.

T.J.’s mother, Tammy Salmon says she has touched on and discussed all of the recent national news concerning police officers with T.J.

Salmon said she is very proud of her son and he does little things like this all of the time.
