A burglar who was tracked down and beaten by a relative of the victim was sentenced Wednesday afternoon.

Javier Castro, 20, was given five years probation by 89th District Judge Charles Barnard.

Another charge of aggravated assault was earlier dismissed.

Police said last August a woman in the 1900 block of Hines was awakened by someone forcing open a door.

She saw a man she recognized forcing open a door to the garage, and also realized he had been in the house because an Xbox game was missing.

She then contacted a relative and said they went to look for the man and found him in a house and the relative began fighting with him

The suspect fled, and police later found a man with recent injuries to the face and also an Xbox.
