Castaway Cove Water Park made an exciting announcement Friday morning signifying opening for the first time in several years without water restrictions,
In honor of a wet spring, management unveiled the park’s very first mascot “Toucan Stan.”
Officials said the big bird signifies a milestone of no drought restrictions, as well as the park switching back from well water to city water.
Manager Steve Vaughn says it’s good news for the park because well water can be hard on their equipment.
“The well water with the minerals and stuff does do a little bit of damage with the pumps and stuff. However, with just one year we did not see that much damage to that equipment,” Vaughn explained.
Vaugn says they have a few repairs to complete to the wave pool but hope to start filling the parks pools next week.
He also said you can look for Toucan Stan at local events as well as when the park opens for the summer swim season on May 14th.
