The Wichita Falls City Council will vote on whether or not to purchase five new pieces of equipment for the fire department at Tuesday’s meeting.
Up for consideration — a new ladder truck and three new pumper engine vehicles for around $2.5 million.
It would be a five year capital lease purchase — with the first payment due in October.
The ladder truck would replace a current one that is more than 30-years-old.
“This brings us back into compliance with NFPA,” WFFD Fire Chief Jon Reese said. “It also puts into service better equipment. Newer — with all of the new technologies and safety aspects.”
The city may also decide to purchase a new squad vehicle for $160,000.
