Well the numbers are in for this years Wichita Falls Fire Department Fill the Boot campaign.

Event Coordinator, Corky Scarbrough tells us that $47,638 were raised over the three-day campaign.

All of the proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise awareness and also help families struggling with the disease.

You might’ve seen some of Wichita Falls’ finest at nine locations around town holding out boots for donations.

“The citizens of Wichita Falls have never let us down. They’ve always come through for us–giving us their change, their money, their dollars, whatever. And we really appreciate that. If it wasn’t for them this wouldn’t be happening,” Coordinator, Corky Scarbrough said.

The event got a lot more personal seven years ago after Wichita Falls Firefighter Kelly Crush was diagnosed with ALS.

Crush later passed away in 2012.

Scarbrough again wants to thank all of the citizens for their generosity and helping to raise nearly $50,000.
