February is financial aid awareness month — and even though many thoughts may be focused on graduation or prom — applications for Midwestern State University financial aid are now available.
About 75 percent of the student population utilize some type of financial aid, while 85 percent use some type of student loans.
“But February really kicks it off, because that’s when we want students and parents to understand that now is the time to start the financial aid process – if they plan to go to college this upcoming fall semester,” MSU Financial Aid Director, Kathy Browning, said.
In order to apply for aid, you also have to have your tax return completed. But aid is available now and MSU will begin awarding it April 1.
The financial aid office encourages parents and students to apply early because more grant money will be available.
