An agency that always ensures victims of abuse and neglect have a voice got a little boost Thursday.
Frank and Joe’s Coffee House handed over a check worth more than $1200 to Child Advocates, so the nonprofit can train more CASAs or Court Appointed Special Advocates.
These trained volunteers speak up for the best interest of children, who are victims of abuse and neglect, in the court system.
The coffee house chose the nonprofit to receive 10 cents from every cup sold.
“How I see it, is it is really like a community thing, because you know when you are coming in, and you are buying that cup of drip coffee or you are buying that shot of espresso you know that you are in turn supporting a local nonprofit,” Frank and Joe’s Cofounder Jessica Edwards said.
Edwards says the give back idea was part of Frank and Joe’s initial business plan and they have already picked the nonprofits that will benefit in the future, they include Phased In, The Arc, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and PETS.
