An Olney man charged with capital murder for the shooting death of a young boy is now sentenced to life in prison, after taking a plea deal Thursday.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said George Coty Wayman pleaded guilty to capital murder of a person under 10 years of age, and was sentenced to life.

Wayman was arrested back in May, after authorities say he shot and killed 3- year- old Dominic Castro.

Witnesses originally told deputies Dominic had been jumping on the bed when a gun went off and he was shot in the head.

Not long after that the Clay County Sheriff said a witness told deputies Wayman actually pointed the gun at the little boy and told him he’d shoot him if he did not stop jumping on the bed. That’s when Sheriff Kenny Lemons said Wayman fired a shot and hit Dominic in the back of the head.
