More Child Poisonings Prompt New Liquid Laundry Pod Warning

Since 2012, there have been over 32,000 calls made to Poison Control Centers related to liquid laundry packets involving children ages five and under.

Thirty-six percent of those incidents were related to packets that were found outside the container in households.

Children who ingested the pods experienced symptoms such as difficulty breathing, excessive vomiting and temporary vision loss.

Experts encourage parents and caregivers to keep the packets inside their closed containers and out of the reach of small children.

Kids between the ages of one and two are at greater risk of swallowing the product.

If your child does get into a liquid laundry packet, you should call the poison help line at 1-800-222-1222.
