Resident in Iowa Park and throughout Texoma are mourning the sudden and unexpected loss of Iowa Park City Councilor, Keith Dyer.

Keith was a lifelong resident of Iowa Park and elected to the position of Councilor Place 3 in June of 2013. He is survived by his wife Debbie and five children: Hayli, Lindsay, Julie, Kelley and Lacy, and 15 grandchildren.

Keith was an independent engineering consultant and mechanical inspector for the oil, chemical and construction industry.

City Manager Jerry Fleming says Keith will be sincerely missed calling him “a great community advocate” and a man who filled more than one important position within the city including an unofficial role as City Engineer.

In addition to his city responsibilities, Dyer hosted a weekly gospel music program on KLUR. In 2010, Keith was a candidate for the 13th District to the United States House of Representatives. He was also well known for his love of high performance cars and metal fabrication. To many residents of Iowa Park he was always there for everyone in the community.
“If you’re from Iowa Park, everybody knew Keith. If you needed a helping hand, he can do anything to help you. He was always there and just a good guy and always had a shoulder to lean on. Always had a hug for people that needed one. Again, he’s going to be missed so much,” John Tranhan, Dyer’s Friend.
Dyer’s city council term expired in May of this year and so Fleming says no special election is needed.  He says the council will appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy on an interim basis until then.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
