A local attorney, former assistant district attorney and candidate for Wichita County district attorney is sentenced to two years probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault after being arrested following a confrontation in a local bar.
According to an arrest affidavit, in early January, Mark Barber got into an altercation with a man at Old Town Saloon.
The man says Barber started being rude, so he attempted to walk away and that’s when he says he was struck across the face with a beer mug.
A medical report states the man’s nose was broken and his injury required staples.
Police say surveillance video from the bar showed Barber placing a beer mug in his pocket.
The alleged victim was then shown a lineup of photographs and he said Barber was the man who assaulted him.
Barber was also arrested in August of 2011 and charged with public intoxication after showing up at a woman’s house naked and drunk.
