Every day David Fowler spends the majority of his time maintaining the units at the Harrison apartment complex.
But, when he’s not checking drains or picking up trash, he’s cooking.
Cooking for a cause.
“I started out with barbeque and I ended up when I went to Mexico, I learned a lot about the cooking there,” said Fowler
But ,he doesn’t keep it to himself, every weekend David drives around town giving it to the homeless.
To them he’s known as the tamale man.
To him, each one is a personal friend.
“It gives me a happiness that nothing else does. Other people have sports and I’m kind of weird. I just like to feed the homeless,” said Fowler.
If fact David also said he feels that passion is his calling in life, “I’d like to do it every day. I wish it was an every day thing.”
Not to mention he pays for it all out of his own pocket.
It’s his giving nature and concern for those less fortunate that caught the attention of Tracy Boswell.
“It’s wonderful thing what David does in his time and at his expense for homeless people he has it in his hear to help,” said Boswell.
Which is why she wanted to pay it forward the $300 to David.
It’s a gift that David said he plans on using to help the homeless even more.
He said he’s always wanted to smoke meat for the folks he feeds and plans to use the money to purchase a smoker and meat he can cook for them.
