The first group of around 25 defendants arrested last year in a multi-agency drug trafficking investigation has now been sentenced.

The FBI with the assistance of local agencies led the operation flat rate round up July 2018.

The US Attorney’s office in Dallas said several years went into the investigation of a drug trafficking network from Vernon, Wichita Falls to the metroplex.

Two Vernon brothers charged in the conspiracy, Clifford and Jarvaris Scott, remained on the run for two months after the initial arrests. They have also pleaded guilty.

They were arrested in September while climbing out the window of the apartment of Denene Griggs—the mother of Javaris Scott’s child. She pleaded guilty to concealing persons from arrest.

A US Attorney spokesperson said more sentencings are set for Feb.19.
