Five Lawton police officers are on paid administrative leave after an officer-involved shooting Sunday night.
Just before 7:30 p.m. officers were called to the Avendale Pointe Apartments on Northwest 52nd Street to conduct a welfare check on Michael Lynn Burton, 57.
During the course of the conversation, OSBI authorities said Burton brought a gun he was holding behind his back forward and was swinging it aggressively at officers.
Investigators said officers then repeatedly asked him to put the gun down and when he would not comply with their request, officers fired their weapons.
Burton was taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation now handling this case.
