A 12-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly robbing a 7/11 at gunpoint

A 12-year-old boy has been taken into custody without incident by Wichita Falls police after allegedly robbing a 7/11 at gunpoint earlier this morning.

Police say a boy walked into the 7/11 off of Southwest Parkway and Fairway Blvd at 2:20 am before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash

Afterward, they say he showed up to a man’s house and stated he was a runaway and that he had a gun that’s when the homeowner called police saying the boy seemed distraught.

They say the boy then left and headed towards Lake Wichita Park where police say he was taken into custody just before 6:30 a.m. 

After being transported to the juvenile detention center, police say the 12-year-old boy was then taken to the North Texas State Hospital for a mental evaluation.

He’s facing charges of unlawful carrying and discharging a firearm in certain municipalities with other charges pending.
