From Nocona High School Principal, Stephenie Wright: “Parents, thank you for understanding the late notice closure of Nocona ISD on Monday night.
The Nocona Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies have worked throughout the day to ensure the safety and security of our students at all Nocona ISD schools.
The suspect is currently in custody and now in the hands of law enforcement.
Wednesday, September 25th, school at all campuses will be in session as normal. Buses will run at the normal time, as well as the college bus that goes to NCTC.
While there are guardians on each campus, there will also be a police presence during the day.
We want to thank you again for your understanding and for allowing us and the Nocona Police Department time to complete the investigation.”

School in Nocona is canceled Tuesday, due to a threat from a former student. School leaders said it’s out of an abundance of caution.
Superintendent David Waters said a threat of a gun being brought to the middle school/high school campus was circulating on Snapchat and the former student making the threat was visiting the town.
Early morning practices and activites were also canceled today.
Superintendent Waters said as to when classes will resume, they are taking things day by day.

Prairie Valley is addressing the concerns about their own district, following Nocona’s campus closing.
Prairie Valley ISD’s facebook says: “PVISD is aware of the threats made upon Nocona ISD last night. We have been in contact with law enforcement and NISD administration and are advised that it is safe for us to have school as normal. Thank you to our county’s law enforcement and for NISD for their swift response and caution.”

School officials said law enforcement was contacted and will be thoroughly investigating the situation.
