Altus PD: Active duty airman arrested on felony warrants after hit-and-run

A man stationed at Altus Air Force Base is in the Jackson County jail after authorities found out he is wanted in Arizona for armed robbery.

According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, officers responded to a hit-and-run accident Wednesday around 11:30 p.m.

During the investigation police ran warrant checks on Yashawn Tate, 20, and found he had felony warrants out of Tucson, Arizona for two counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to Murphy, Tate has been an active duty member since March 2018, a month after the warrants were issued.

Tate’s bonds total $25,000 and he is awaiting an extradition hearing before a Jackson County District judge.
