A few members of the community made sure the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank received a nice donation on Thursday in an effort to eliminate hunger in Texoma.
Leadership Wichita Falls class of 2018 presented the food bank with a check of $5,000, in hopes to do wonders for the banks dwindling supply.
The food bank CEO urges Texomans to do what they can to assist those in the community who are food insecure and shows gratitude for the donation.
“A lot of us take that for granted just to think that that’s just something that everybody has and for some people, it’s a luxury,” Food Bank CEO Kara Nickens said. “[And] all these leaders in our community to realize the issue of hunger in our community and want to help, it goes a long way.”
The check was funded by the leadership’s Dumpster Dine event that took place early last month.
This was the members’ way of bringing awareness to hunger across Texoma and making a difference financially.
