Breaking news out of Arkansas overnight.

The state has executed an inmate for the first time in nearly in decade, as part of its plan to execute several men on death row.

Last night’s execution of 51-year-old Ledell Lee marks the first execution in Arkansas since 20-05.

He died at 11:56 p.m., four minutes before his death warrant expired.

Lee was sentenced to death row for the 1993 killing of his neighbor Debra Reese.

The victim was hit 36 times with a tire tool.

Three more executions are set for next week.
