Nearly two weeks after Burkburnett Middle School was the target of an alleged threat, school officials have announced an arrest.
The district posted the following statement on their Facebook page on March 28, “BISD has been made aware of a threat against our Middle School. The Burkburnett ISD Police Department and Burkburnett Police Department are investigating and will take the necessary action. Student safety is our main priority.”
Wednesday afternoon, the school district posted another Facebook update on the case.
“On Monday, Burkburnett ISD Administration was alerted by a parent who was able to provide information that lead to identifying and locating the juvenile who made the March 28th social media post threatening our middle school campus. Today, Burkburnett ISD Police Chief Stubblefield arrested the juvenile and placed him in the custody of the Wichita County Juvenile Justice Center.”
According to school officials, the arrest was made with the help of a few parents who monitored their children’s phones and brought information to the school district’s attention.
