If you’re planning to visit a national park this summer be aware that no drones are allowed.  Fines can reach up to $1000 and you can also be banned from the park.

A national park representative said, “The drones are prohibited because their presence can be disturbing, not only to people trying to peacefully enjoy the parks, but also to wildlife.”

Drones are also prohibited on the National Mall in Washington DC. Check with officials at any location to see what the restrictions may be.

The US Park Police will have launched a social media campaign to educate the public to this fact and they’ll give details today.

So remember, especially this holiday weekend, the National Mall is a #nodronezone.
