A Texoma man is waiting on a kidney transplant and has to go through hours of dialysis every day, and because medical bills add up quickly, a benefit is being held at the Eagles Lodge on Seymour Highway Saturday until 9 p.m.
It started out as a motorcycle giveaway but grew to something much larger to try to raise more money for Petz and his family.
Joe Petz has been on dialysis for 16 years and now is undergoing 10 hours of dialysis every day, and Petz said he is grateful for everything people are doing.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s flattering. I was telling my wife, I don’t really know that many people,” Petz said. “To see all these people I don’t really know do this for me, it almost brings tears to your eyes. It’s just beyond flattering. I don’t even know what to say. Even strangers doing something for you like that, unbelievable.
Along with the motorcycle giveaway, there is a silent auction at the benefit as well as multiple drawings a brisket dinner and a bake sale.
A live band is going to take the stage at 7 p.m. and will continue until about 9 p.m., so there is still time to get over there and help them out.
