Big things are developing further in Henrietta and people all around Clay County have reason to be excited.

Starting at around 2 am Friday early morning, economic development director, rick Langford says crews will begin pouring cement for the new travel center going up off 287. It’s going to feature a Steak and Shake, Texas Best Smokehouse, two restaurants, and a convenience store.

Langford says just approved today funding from the Texas Department of Agriculture for a new 49- unit senior apartment complex He says the program will allow investors to get income tax credits to offset rental costs for people with lower income.

It will be located behind the Pecan Shed and Best Western and will be an all- ground level complex for those 55- and older. Langford says the completion deadline on that is set for December 2019.

Already in that same area of Henrietta a brand new 48- unit multi- story apartment complex for people of all ages and salary levels.
