The Lake Wichita Revitalization Committee met Tuesday morning to discuss the future of one of its biggest projects, the creation of a boardwalk.
Executive Director of Lake Wichita Friends of Reservoirs Stuart Harvey, said a matching grant of $500,000 by Texas Parks and Wildlife has allowed for a construction extension on the project.
If the committee can get city council approval on the funding construction on the boardwalk could start as early as September.
“We need to look at it as a community asset and that community asset needs some maintenance and it needs some investment, but with that investment comes great return and we need to be thinking about it in that framework,” Harvey said.
As for when it could be complete, Harvey said the boardwalk phase of the revitalization project could be complete by next spring.
