Bowie ISD has a new superintendent after the board of trustees named a familiar face to the position Wednesday night.
Blake Enlow has been the principal at Bowie High School since 2016 and has been employed with the district since 2011.
Enlow was chosen as the lone finalist back in April and hired by the school board Wednesday night.
The MSU graduate is replacing Steven Monkres who retired in early April.
Monkres has a 30-year career as an educator with 21 of those years at Bowie ISD.
He began in Bowie as a teacher and coach, following in the footsteps of his mother, longtime Bowie teacher Nancy Monkres.
The school district plans to have a retirement reception for Monkres Wednesday, May 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the Bowie High School cafeteria.
