Wichita Falls police are once again reminding residents to practice “lock-take-hide” after a string of car burglaries hit the Faith Village area.
Officers say 14 vehicles were burglarized between 9 p.m. June 6 and 8 a.m. June 7.
They say none of the 14 vehicles showed any signs of forced entry — meaning owners left their cars unlocked overnight.
Most of the owners did *not* report anything stolen. But officers say the burglar, or burglars, stole a gun from one of the vehicles.
“If you have a firearm in your vehicle, when you get home for the night, take that firearm inside,” said WFPD Sgt. Harold McClure. “There’s really no reason for it to be out in the car anyhow. However, definitely don’t leave it in an unlocked vehicle.”
Sgt. McClure says WFPD does not have any suspects yet, but he says a witness saw two black men breaking into a vehicle in the 4400 block of McNiel Avenue around 4 a.m. June 7.
