A 29-year-old Burkburnett man is jailed on $100,000 bond after police say he locked his fiancé and her young son in a room and assaulted her for over an hour and threatened her with a gun.

Adam Cooke is charged with assault family violence by impeding breathing with a previous conviction and aggravated assault family violence with a deadly weapon.

Police say he also had warrants from Baylor County.

Officers were sent to a Burkburnett gas station about a hysterical 28-year-old woman, and say she told them she had been assaulted.

She says Cooke came home intoxicated and they started arguing about police talking to him at work about a stolen car.

She says he grabbed her phone and shattered it and then got a gun and grabbed her and her 4-year-old son and forced them into the bedroom and locked the door.

She told officers her son was crying and pleading with him not to shoot his mommy, and he threw the boy out of the room and then assaulted her for over an hour, grabbing her throat and banging her head against the wall.

She told police she was able to get away by telling Cooke they could work it out the next day, and she took her two sons and drove to the gas station for help.
